DAVID STONE & YOU
A brand new lesson plan for 4th grade: by Amy McCoy Chiles, Teaching Resource Center, East Carolina University
|
Exhibit extended through December 21
What Was It Worth Back Then? A new temporary exhibit, "Material Wealth in Bertie County" answers that question by comparing goods on estate inventories in 1753, 1787, 1797, and 1819.
Home Brew Coming in 2006: Like many wealthy planters of his time, David Stone operated a still and brewed some of the strong drink consumed at Hope Plantation. "Home Brew: Domestic Alcohol Production in Bertie County from the 19th to the 20th Century" will look at how home brew turned to bootlegging in eastern North Carolina over the course of nearly 200 years. If you or someone you know would like to participate in the oral history component of this exhibit, please contact Glenn Perkins. |
