Historic Hope Plantation E-News Update

July 2005
ECU Joyner
Library's new NC Digital History site is now
live!

Twenty objects from Historic Hope Plantation are part
of this virtual exhibit. Watch videos or get close up with zoomable
pictures of the items. More artifacts and features will be added
through 2007. The site is part of a collaboration between ECU,
Hope, Kenley's Tobacco Farm Life Museum, and the Country Doctor
Museum in Bailey. Curriculum specialists in the ECU School of
Education are developing lesson plans that tie into the web site, so
that it can be used in the classroom and in coordination with
student field trips. For more information on the project,
contact Glenn
Perkins.
Exhibit Continues through Sept.

What Was It Worth Back
Then? A new temporary exhibit, "Material Wealth in Bertie County"
answers that question by comparing goods on estate inventories in
1753, 1787, 1797, and 1819. To learn more about these artifacts and
the people that used them, come to one of the gallery talks on the
schedule
below.
